She has enjoyed making her debuts in roles such as Carmen for Opera Kelowna (British Columbia); the sorceress Melissa (Handel's Amadigi), Silvia (Haydn's L'Isola Disabitata) and Xerxes (Handel) for Haymarket Opera (Chicago). Her New York City debut was as Annio in La Clemenza di Tito, conducted by Julius Rudel.
Equally at home on the concert stage, she has been a regular recitalist with twice-Grammy-nominated harpsichordist Jory Vinikour at Great Lakes Baroque Festival (Milwaukee) and elsewhere, as well as with cellist and Artistic Director of Haymarket Opera Company Craig Trompeter. She has collaborated with the Flying Forms Trio; the Lyra Baroque Orchestra (Zelenka’s Missa Omnium Sanctorum, in St. Paul, MN); The Grinnell Singers and Orchestra (Duruflé’s Requiem; Mozart’s Mass in C minor); Orchestra Iowa (Bach’s Mass in B minor, Bach’s St. John Passion— broadcast on Iowa Public Radio, and Handel’s Messiah); the Central Iowa Symphony (Mahler’s Rückertlieder); the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (Bach’s Magnificat), and others. She was a soloist with James Conlon and Cincinnati May Festival; the Kansas City Symphony; and Bloomington Early Music Festival. She sang Carmen in the woodcut motion picture Kharmen, by Jay Bolotin. She performed in recital at the Handel House Museum (London); the University of British Columbia’s Minds and Music concert series; the Hamburg’s Opernsalon series (Germany); and for Mobile Opera's Winter Gala. She toured with the Edinburgh Quartet (Scotland). She has also sung with the Spoleto Festival (Italy), Cincinnati Opera, Portland Opera Repertory Theatre (Maine), Florida Grand Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Garsington Opera (England), the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Glyndebourne on Tour, the Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute (Highland Park/Chicago), and the Tanglewood Institute (Massachusetts).
She earned her Master of Music in voice performance from the Manhattan School of Music and her Bachelor of Music in voice performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In addition to performing, Suzanne enjoys teaching. She was on the faculty of Grinnell College (Iowa) for many years but recently relocated to Tallahassee. She continues to freelance as a performer and teaches voice both privately and at Florida State University College of Music.
